DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, January 7\, 2026 – 06:30 pm\nMATTAPOISETT — Anyone looking to become an elected official is invited to the Mattapoisett Democratic Town Committee’s annual “So you want to run for public office” speaker forum. \nThe event will take place Wednesday\, Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the public meeting room at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library. \nNicki Demakis\, the group’s chair\, and Frances-Feliz Kearns\, the group’s acting vice-chair and school committee representative\, will moderate the event. Other area officials will also speak\, sharing insights on the process of running and winning a successful campaign. \nThe goal of the event is to demystify running in local and state elections\, and to encourage civil participation. It will guide attendees through each step\, from pulling papers from the clerk in January to Election Day. \nEveryone\, regardless of party affiliation\, is welcome to attend.
