31 Dec 2025: A year of Community, Civic Action and Democratic Values for Matt Dems
2025 was a year of meaningful engagement and steady action for the Mattapoisett Democratic Town Committee, rooted in our commitment to community, democracy, and care for one another.
Throughout the year, Matt Dems focused on civic participation and voter engagement. Building on the success of earlier postcard efforts, members continued organizing and promoting grassroots outreach—bringing together volunteers from across the Tri-Town area and partner organizations like Indivisible to encourage participation in key elections and civic processes. These efforts reflected our belief that democracy is strongest when neighbors show up for one another.
Food insecurity and community well-being were also recurring themes. We shared data and stories highlighting the real impact of SNAP benefits across Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester, helping put local numbers into human context. By elevating these conversations—both through blog posts and social media—we reinforced the importance of policies that support families and ensure no one in our community is left behind.
Matt Dems also played an active role in local governance and public dialogue. Members promoted attendance at important town meetings, including hearings related to public health and municipal appointments, emphasizing transparency and resident participation. We consistently encouraged respectful, non-violent civic engagement aligned with our shared values.
In 2025, the committee continued to use its platform to educate, inform, and connect—whether through blog posts reflecting on guest speakers like Indivisible South Coast, social media updates celebrating student creativity and community events, or statements clarifying our values when needed. Storytelling remained central to our work, helping residents understand not just what is happening, but why it matters.
Above all, 2025 reaffirmed Matt Dems as a welcoming, engaged, and values-driven local committee—one that believes democracy lives closest to home, in town halls, school gyms, libraries, and conversations between neighbors.
As we look ahead to 2026, we remain committed to showing up, reaching out, and strengthening democracy—together.
