Citizens for Economic Justice

July 23, 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
  • Join for an update on state efforts and events related to getting the “We the People Act” voted out of committee in the State Legislature. For more information call Jack Dean at 508-758-9201 or email him at jdean1969@aol.com.

CEJ is a subcommittee of the Social Justice Committee at the UU Fairhaven Church (UUSF) and is a Chapter of We the People Massachusetts. CEJ includes church members and others in efforts to address a widening gap between the “haves” and the “have nots” in American society. CEJ has promoted an active stance by the UUSF in support of the Unitarian Universalist Association Congregational Study/Action Issue “Escalating Inequality” adopted by the UUA General Assembly in June 2014 and, more recently, “The Corruption of our Democracy”.  CEJ has also become involved with efforts by the national organization Move to Amend to advocate for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that reserves the rights granted under the Constitution to persons, not artificial entities, and permits the federal government and the states to regulate campaign contributions.
