Just miserable.<\/p>\n<p>Check out these incredible September temperatures compared to normal at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/w2.weather.gov\/climate\/index.php?wfo=box\">stations across New England<\/a>\u00a0(through September 27):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bangor, ME: +7.0<\/li>\n<li>Concord, NH: +6.0<\/li>\n<li>Burlington, VT: +5.6<\/li>\n<li>Portland, ME: +4.9<\/li>\n<li>Hartford, CT: +3.7<\/li>\n<li>Worcester, MA: +3.3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The heat on Monday was not just record-breaking but reflective of our new climate. On Monday, Burlington, VT broke its record for the day by SEVEN degrees (92, old high 85) and Caribou, ME broke its record by FIVE degrees (88, old high 83). It even triggered an autumn\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.concordmonitor.com\/turtle-pond-cyanobacteria-12772743\">toxic algae outbreak<\/a>\u00a0in New Hampshire, just one of many ways global warming makes it\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrcm.org\/climate\/report-climate-change-threatens-americas-cherished-outdoor-experience\/\">harder to enjoy the outdoors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The same weather pattern saw Chicago top 91 degrees for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/chicago.cbslocal.com\/2017\/09\/26\/weeklong-heat-wave-september\/\">seven consecutive days<\/a>, breaking the record high every single day. Europe has also been gripped by the so-called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2017\/sep\/27\/climate-change-made-lucifer-heatwave-far-more-likely-scientists-find\">Lucifer heat wave<\/a>. And then of course there were Harvey and Irma, which both\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/09\/15\/us\/climate-change-hurricanes-harvey-and-irma\/index.html\">drew added fuel<\/a>\u00a0from warmer-than-normal water temperatures.<\/p>\n<p>September\u2019s weather has been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/september-heat-wave-noaa-ca21143e97e1\/\">simply unprecedented<\/a>\u00a0and climate scientists say global warming is directly to blame.
