Many of our members already knew Regina from her work as a member of the Mattapoisett Democratic Town Committee, as well as from the \u201cBridge Brigades\u201d and community rallies that have energized Fairhaven and surrounding towns over the past year. Her presentation offered an inspiring look at how Indivisible organizes \u2014 and why this grassroots movement remains such a vital part of defending democracy at the local level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What Indivisible Is<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\">Indivisible is a national, grassroots, non-partisan, non-violent, pro-democracy network.<br>It\u2019s a decentralized movement \u2014 local groups set their own priorities while remaining connected through thousands of volunteer-run chapters across the country. The shared foundation is simple but powerful: strategic, peaceful action and anti-authoritarian values that strengthen civic participation and community courage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why It Matters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\">Regina encouraged everyone to \u201cfind your why\u201d \u2014 to be ready to answer the question, <em>\u201cWhy are you here?\u201d &nbsp;<\/em>For some, it\u2019s the environment. For others, it\u2019s the Constitution, equality, or simply a better future for their families. Participating locally isn\u2019t just about politics; it\u2019s about replacing doom-scrolling with visible action and finding optimism through community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-6 wp-block-paragraph\">As Regina shared, <em>\u201cCourage is contagious.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-7 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What They Do Locally (South Coast &amp; Nearby)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-8 wp-block-paragraph\">Here on the South Coast, Indivisible members have built a reputation for creative, visible, and community-rooted activism:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-9\">Creative Organizing: Sign-making parties and visual\/theatrical protest ideas that keep messages fresh and engaging.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-10\">Mutual Aid &amp; Rights Support: Collaboration with local immigrant-rights groups such as LUCE Mass, distributing \u201cknow-your-rights\u201d cards and hotline information. Partner organizations also work on detention-facility access and advocacy \u2014 all non-violent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-11\">Civic Engagement: Postcard and letter-writing, lobbying efforts, and voter outreach supported by Indivisible National resources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-12\">Tools &amp; Communications: Facebook and Instagram for outreach, as well as their website <a href=\"https:\/\/DoSomethingSC.org\">DoSomethingSC.org<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-13\">Bridge Brigade: A team that displays signs on the pedestrian overpass by the commuter rail \u2014 <em>music encouraged!<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-14\">De-escalation &amp; Safety at Protests: Indivisible offers national trainings on de-escalation and maintaining safety at rallies and events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-15\">Weekly Strategy Call: <em>\u201cWhat\u2019s the Plan?\u201d<\/em> \u2014 Thursdays at 3:00 PM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-16 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to Plug In<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-17 wp-block-paragraph\">Indivisible offers many ways to get involved, no matter your schedule, skills, or experience.
